Shakespeare and the Diaries!

William Shakespeare (1564-1616) and other famous writers are featured in our current exhibit inside the museum titled, Tinker Rare Books. We have various rare books in our collection that we are displaying to the public. It is interesting to see these first editions and other works that were collected by the Tinker family during the Victorian Era. If you would like to see some of these great tomes, we have guided tours through the museum at 1 and 3 PM from Tuesday through Sunday. 

 

Also, the second installment of Mr. Tinker’s diaries are published and in the store. They cover the years 1870 through 1901 when Mr. Robert Tinker was married to the widow Mary Dorr Manny-Tinker. The diaries not only give one a glimpse of Victorian life, but the diaries are also a great primary resource for Victorian Rockford. They are available for purchase in our museum store.
